Thomas the tomato plant

On Sunday, our lesson in Relief Society was on Provident Living. I honestly was humbled by this quote by President Kimball:

"We encourage you to grow all the food that you feasibly can on your own property. Berry bushes, grapevines, fruit trees—plant them if your climate is right for their growth. Grow vegetables and eat them from your own yard. Even those residing in apartments or condominiums can generally grow a little food in pots and planters." - Spencer W. Kimball Lesson 11

I felt like I needed to be a little bit obedient and so last night I bought a tomato plant, pot, and tomato food. It seems a little ridiculous because I am going to be gone most of the summer, so really it is a plant for me and my roommates because I will need their help so that it won't die. We called him Thomas (in a Spanish accent, I don't know how to spell it) because he looks like he "comes from south of the border" as Mandy says. I will keep you posted on how he grows over the summer. (Do you like my hanger as a stake!?! Hey, I'm working with what I've got.)

Tomas - no h, only difference. Well, actually there's an accent on the "a" also, but I haven't figured out how to put accent on in blogger.
I was impressed by that quote too! I'm hoping to get some already started plants if I get a house. That makes me happy that you got a tomato plant. :)
